A Final Stance

from $135.00

Our morning began quietly, until a radio call changed everything. A mother leopard and her two male cubs had been spotted. We made our way to the area and found them moving slowly through the dense bush.

It wasn’t long before a troop of baboons noticed them and began alarm-calling. Below the commotion, two male impalas stood alert beneath the tree, unaware of just how close danger was. We moved ahead, hoping to position ourselves in front of the leopards, but as time passed with no sign of them, we thought we’d lost them.

Then, out of nowhere, one of the cubs appeared beside our vehicle, using it as cover while stalking the impalas. His brother soon joined, and together they moved toward the prey, not to take the kill themselves, but to drive one impala directly toward where their mother lay in ambush.

She launched with precision, latching on to the Impala by the throat. One cub quickly moved in on the Impala while the other turned his attention to the baboons above.

This was such a special and unique sighting. Being able to watch Leopards coordinate and work together to bring down the Impala.
